This guide will help you understand the components involved with this tool.
This timeline shows the aggregated actions of trainees within the entire simulation which are represented by bubbles. The size of these bubbles represent significance and importance of these actions within the simulation. The box surrounding the timeline shows the slice of the simulation you are viewing the role timelines. You can drag the box up and down to change the time with which you are viewing. It is intended to give an general overview silhoutte representation of activity within the timeline
Event Bars are meant to show the duration length of events. When you hover over them, a short description is given which note the event's type. Clicking upon the Event Bars brings up a popup about the event. Right now it simply displays exact duration of the event but more details could be added. Colors are abitrarily assigned for now.
This is the timeline specifically for HICON simulation messages such as weather warnings, or other such messages sent to trainees to trigger certain reactions.
This is the legend for the role timeline to help understand the timelines' colour coding and the type associated with the message shapes.
These timelines show the specific details per trainee within the specified timeframe window from the general timeline. Messages and actions are placed over the timeline accordingly. The timelines are colour-coded to the roles associated with that trainee. The size of the bubbles corresponds to the significance of that action. The message shapes are color coded to the intended recipient's roles, with gradients for multiple recipients. Hovering over the messages and actions will provide summarized snippets of information.
These are message popups that will appear when message symbols on the role timelines are clicked. They provide more detailed information. Furthermore, if a location is attached to a message, a button will appear to see the location pinpointed on the map.
These buttons allow the user to change what the timeframe window on the general timeline. In order from left to right, the button functionality is as follows: rewind 15 minutes, play through the timeline in real-time, forward 15 minutes, select time frame window. It is also possible to input exact days and times for the timeframe in the appropriate input boxes.
The search bar allows users to filter the messages and/or actions within role timelines by a specific keyword. The hamburger button will open the filters page that contains more filters which can be further applied adapt the view to the user's needs.
Each selected filter is displayed on the right-hand side according to what the user has chosen thus far. EDMSIM entities will change according to what each role saw during the simulation. Trainee actions filter what each role did during the simulation, and location filters allow users to choose a certain location and only have actions/message appear that have relation to that area. Message filters can be filtered by role, and by type.
The toggle buttons allow the user to hide certain components of the interface, or trade them in. In order from left to right, the buttons toggle the following elements: statistics, the map, heat map, role timelines, legend and lastly this information guide module.
It is possible to view geolocated messages on the map. When the user has finished with the message, the clear target button can be used to get rid of any markers.
