Visualize Magnetosphere is a tool based on existing programs created by the Auroral Imaging Group (AIG) at the University of Calgary. AIG’s focus is on developing and operating instruments for observing the Northern Lights. Through auroral observations, AIG currently operates the world’s premier facility for remote sensing large-scale space plasma phenomena. This position offers an exciting opportunity to help develop a new and innovative instrument that will push the boundaries of optical observations and aid in further understanding of near-Earth plasma phenomena.

This project is based on existing tools and mediums like On-The-Go, which use immersive analytics to help people understand the earth’s magnetosphere and satellites’ footprints. The aim is to provide multi-sensory interfaces that support collaboration and allow users to immerse themselves in their data. Through it, one can use virtual reality devices like the HTC VIVE to immersively explore the Earth’s magnetosphere.
